About Us
Through close relationships with some of the most talented farmers
and
artisanal food producers in the region, Lucid Food selects only
the
best seasonal and organic local ingredients and designs menus around
the bounty of the moment. We are passionate
about cooking and committed to bringing sustainability to fine
catering.
- First and foremost, we pursue this goal by providing beautiful
catered food that is locally grown, seasonal, and organic whenever
possible.
- Our production kitchen composts 100% of our organic waste,
and we offer clients the unique option of no-waste or low-waste
events through the use of composting and recycling.
- Through our Lucid Lunch program we offer clients in corporate
settings an easy way to bring exceptionally prepared food into
the office.
- Through classes at venues around the city or in your home we
show you up close how to make the most of seasonal food.
- We donate 5% of our proceeds to three of our favorite New York
City food and sustainability non-profits: Just Food, Added Value,
and The Lower East Side Ecology Center.

Lucid Food is run by chef Louisa Shafia.
Louisa graduated from the Natural Gourmet Cookery School in Manhattan.
She has worked at noteworthy restaurants in both New York and San
Francisco, including Aquavit, Pure Food and Wine, Millennium, and
the former Roxanne's. Her passion for cooking is fueled by a desire
to make healthful, environmentally sustainable food that is both
elegant and delectable.
